With the recent flooding of Central Texas, one problem that is not seen enough is the number of pet shelters and pets that need supplies. What should have turned out to be a hiking session at Tejas Park with new members of the Low Reed section, a local high school band in Leander, Texas, instead decided to bring this problem to light by hosting a pet supply drive at Williamson County Park.

On July 13th, from 5:00 in the afternoon to 7:00, members of the Rouse High School band gathered with dozens of donations that included canned pet food, pet blankets, kitty litter, dish soap, and many more.

After giving back to the community, the band celebrated its success with pizza and drinks. This not only created a memorable moment for the members, but was also a great way to represent their band. The Rouse band hopes that they can be a role model for other high schools, and wishes everyone affected by the floods safety and health.

During this season of disaster, you can help Texas, too! Donate to flood relief organizations that help families, homes, and animals in Texas that were affected by the floods. Leander ISD has had tragic outcomes due to the floods as well, bringing awareness, and doing any amount of fundraising can make a difference.
